Match Review from Rob Bates, Manager.
For our match against Tring we had a couple of players out. Our Captain, Rhys [Monaghan], had a knee injury from Tuesdays game against Dunstable and Freddie [Higgs] had an ankle injury.
Two players came in Hilton [Arthur] and Joel [Pallant]. Both were brilliant yesterday, they did their jobs really well.
Our back line other than, Eman [Kusi], were terrible for the first 20 mins. I was going to make three changes before the keeper was sent off but in the end made one.
AB [Atcha] came on and put in a fantastic performance, he hasn’t had many minutes due to injury and holiday but he could be a fantastic player for us.
We controlled the game, even after sending off, with ten men and against a top team like Tring, who are up there wanting to win the league. They have ambitions to be promoted and I felt that for the 70 mins that we played with ten men we were unbelievable, probably the best performance of our season so far.
We played in the oppositions half the whole of the second half and I thought the boys were absolutely outstanding, they really put a shift in. You could see the togetherness of this group, even the guys on the bench were there, cheering on every tackle. That’s what it means to this group of lads and I just think if we keep performing like this then there is only one way we will be going and that’s up the league.
Having said that our consistency hasn’t been great, we put in a great performance against Wormley and then lost to Dunstable, which was not what I want, it was just a bit lacklustre. The result against Tring was not what any of us wanted but that performance has a lot of positives, especially with ten men.
