After having good numbers to choose from for Thursday evening's win at Arlesey Town, Baldock were down to the bare bones for this one with only Lewis Barker and Rob Beckwith on the bench, with the former not fit enough to play any part.
Wormley came out of the traps quickly and took the lead inside the opening minute. The visitors quickly regained their composure though and Josh Furness coolly finished to bring Town level.
The hosts were back in front midway through the first half when they ran through and scored from what looked like an offside position. Baldock continued to huff and puff though and Jay Duguid levelled at the second attempt just after the half hour.
Six minutes later Town were in front for the first time when Furness seized on a mistake in the home defence and clinically guided the ball high into the top right hand corner. Furness then completed his hat-trick just before the break with a well-measured lob after a good through ball from Jack Gregson.
Town had a bit of a reshuffle at half-time with Rob Beckwith replacing Anthony James. Wormley once again started well and reduced the deficit in the opening moments of the second half.
Baldock always looked in control, playing some nice stuff at times, but their failure to turn second half dominance into goals kept the home side interested for long periods. Rovers should have equalised when one of their players burst through. However, after rounding Jack Farmer and looking certain to score, the Baldock keeper managed to scramble back and block the shot.
Furness made them rue that missed opportunity when he burst through to score his fourth of the afternoon with just under twenty minutes left.
Squad: Farmer, Holt, Pitcairn, Gilbert, Coppin, J.Gregson, Furness, James, Holland, Duguid, Hennessey, Barker, Beckwith
