Reds on the Road: Bovingdon FC

Lee Rusbridge26 Oct 2012 - 11:19

The 1st Team look to continue their recent run of form with a trip to Bovingdon this weekend.

Where is Bovingdon?

Bovingdon is a large village situated four miles south-west of Hemel Hempstead. They play their home games at Green Lane, Bovingdon, HP3 0LA.

What's their ground like?

It's one of the better venues in the league. They have a nice little clubhouse with Sky Sports situated at one end of the ground where you can get a range of drinks and hot food is normally available. They also have a small covered area for spectators by the half way line.

How have we done previously against Bovingdon?

We have played them on eleven occasions winning six, drawing three and losing twice. Last season, we enjoyed three victories against Bovingdon scoring 18 goals and conceding none. The corresponding fixture at Green Lane last term ended in a 10-0 victory for Town! The other encounters were both at the Arena ending in 4-0 wins.

Premier Division A-Z: Bovingdon

How have Bovingdon done so far this season?

Saturday's opponents currently lie third from bottom in the Premier Division and are the lowest scorers with just nine goals in ten outings. Both of their two wins so far came on the road at Letchworth Garden City Eagles and Knebworth. Their only home match not to end in defeat came last weekend in a 2-2 draw with Standon & Puckeridge - the same opposition that beat them 9-4 the week before in the County Cup! Bovingdon are currently on a run of six games without a win (and without being unkind we hope that run can continue for one more game!)

Who else is in action on Saturday?

For the first time in a few weeks, it is a full Premier Division programme tomorrow. The pick of the fixtures see leaders Met Police host 6th place Belstone. Second place Cuffley will hope to continue their fine run when they travel to Letchworth Garden City Eagles. Bush Hill Rangers are at home to rock-bottom Knebworth, who go in search of their first points of the season.

Baldock Town Reserves will be hoping to build on last weekend's 1-0 win over local rivals Eagles when they travel to top of the table Sarratt. The Reds are yet to pick up a point from their two away outings so far and Saturday's fixture promises to be another tough task.

Baldock Town A host Bengeo Trinity Reserves at Gaunts Way (2.30pm KO), which will be a first ever meeting between the two. Richard Poleszuk's side are looking to build on an impressive couple of results and if the table is anything to go by, there should be little to choose between the two teams.

The last time we played on Saturday 27th October...

The 1st Team beat Bedwell Rangers 2-0 at The Slope back in 2007/08. A goal in each half from James Smith and Lee Buck gave the Reds three more points on their way to the Herts Senior County League Division One title.

Under the management of Barry Laurence, the Reserves won 5-1 at Mill End Sports Reserves. Adam Sayer, Lewis Littlechild, Shane Willett, Lee Harman and Ross Haskins were all on target, whilst the A Team in their debut season had that weekend off.
