CUP MATCH PREVIEW: BALDOCK TOWN FC v ENFIELD

Baldock Town are ready for Enfield Rematch in the Cup

Saturday 31 October 2026 | Kick-off 3.00pm
Venue: New Lamb Meadow

Baldock Town return to action at New Lamb Meadow on Saturday afternoon as Enfield make the trip for what promises to be an intriguing encounter. With both sides looking to build momentum, Baldock will be determined to make home advantage count and produce a performance to excite the Baldock faithful.

The two sides are already familiar with each other this season, having met in August when Enfield recorded a convincing 6–1 victory on their own ground. That result will provide extra motivation for Baldock, who will be keen to show how much progress they have made since that meeting.

Baldock head into the fixture following a 2–1 defeat against Tring Athletic on Saturday 24 October. Despite the disappointment of missing out on the points, Baldock showed real character in a close game against a top side, played with ten men for most of the match.

There have been encouraging signs from the side this season, including an impressive 5–0 home victory over Wormley Rovers on 17 October. That performance demonstrated Town’s attacking potential, with William Blair among the standout performers, and will serve as a reminder of what the team can achieve when everything clicks.

Enfield arrive with a clear reminder of their capabilities following their emphatic win over Baldock earlier in the campaign. Their attacking quality means Town will need to be alert from the opening whistle, particularly when dealing with quick transitions and opportunities in the final third.

However, Enfield’s recent league results have also shown that they can be challenged. They drew 1–1 with Colney Heath on 19 October before suffering a narrow 1–0 defeat away to Aylesbury Vale Dynamos on 24 October.

Those results will give Baldock encouragement that a determined and disciplined performance can make this a much closer contest. The Reds will hope to create opportunities through the pace and direct running of their forward players as shown against WORMLEY and combine it with the tenacious teamwork shown in the match against Tring.

Enfield’s previous victory means they will understandably arrive with confidence, but cup football can bring a different dynamic, and Baldock will be determined to make the most of their opportunity.
