Great win and much needed three points for ‘The Reds’

Baldock Town had a number of new faces in the team for our first home game in a few weeks. Baldock had a good intensity of play straight from the kick off and produced a couple of good chances early on. Robertson seemed well up for this one, playing wide on the right and causing the St Panteleimon defence all sorts of problems with his willingness to take them on. Despite having all of the pressure Baldock got lucky when one of the rare St Panteleimon attacks finished with a shot off the post which looked like a certain goal. Baldock did take the lead in 38 mins with a well placed free kick by Carney from about 20 yards. Straight from the restart Baldock Goalkeeper Mollison pulled off a great save to make sure we had the lead at half time.
Baldock kept up the pressure at the start of the second half and in 55 mins Dollimore latched on to a good through ball, made his way into the box and shot against the Keeper but he was quick enough to get the rebound and turn it in for 2-0.
Baldock lost their way a bit after that with lots of pushing and falling over from both sides, this disrupted our play and allowed St Panteleimon back into the game. We looked safe enough …. until 87 mins when we gifted them a really soft goal that we had chances to clear but just weren’t forceful enough.
This started to look like how many of our matches have ended this season, good play, good possession then throw it away by losing soft goals.
Not this time and we held on for a great 2-1 win for three much needed points.
Dollimore was awarded Man of the Match on his debut and got a goal as well.
Team: Mollison, Reynolds, Furness, Diallo, Carney, Syme, Robertson, Hewitt, Brown, White, Dollimore. Subs; Joy, Ford, Sollis, Palmer, Dalli.
