Magnificent Seven

Baldock were hoping to stretch their record of seven consecutive wins in the league against mid-table Bedford. Freddie Morris came straight in for the unavailable Louis Lee and Alfie Barker got a start as a reward for his recent goals from the bench.

It was young Barker that started the rout after 15 minutes. A good run in behind resulted in a pull back for the on-rushing Morris to slam home and take the lead. The same two almost made it two just eight minutes later, neat interplay involving Zach Decker, Morris spooned his shot over the bar much to the chagrin of right back Stephen Brooks who felt he could have been slipped in.

Baldock doubled their lead on 27 minutes. A punt up field from 'keeper Adam Harpur was not dealt with by the Bedford back four and Barker slotted away. Minutes later it could have been three. A corner caused problems in the opposition box, captain Liam Kenna had a shot blocked and Lewis Barker hit the rebound wide.

It was 3-0 on the half hour mark. A well worked corner from Decker was volleyed home by Alfie Barker on the six yard box.

Baldock went in to half time three goals to the good but the game was by all means not over yet. Two minutes after the restart it was as good as won. Barker completing his hat-trick with a neat finish. It was 5-0 soon after, Barker this time turning provider for Decker who smashed home from a tight angle.

55 minutes it was 6. Josh Coley dancing off his left wing and smashing a low drive past the 'keeper. Goalscorers; Barker, Decker and Morris were soon replaced and it was one of their replacements who completed the scoring. Russell Bull rising highest to head home and make it Baldock Town 7-0 Bedford.

A comprehensive victory for Luke Gregson's men who now travel to Broadfields United on Tuesday night.
