A Russell Bull hat-trick, along with a Kieran Barnes goal secure the points for the Reds on the road at North Greenford.

On a sunny afternoon in the London Borough of Ealing, Baldock Town came to Berkeley Fields aiming to get back on track after the midweek defeat at Biggleswade FC and it didn’t take long before they were in the ascendancy.

As early as the 6th minute Kieran Barnes got in behind the NGU defence on the left hand side, coolly sliding the ball into the far corner past the stranded keeper.

The half continued with the Reds defending resolutely against some indifferent home side finishing concluding with a Blues free-kick, directly in front of goal and just outside of the box being batted down by Jack Farmer, back in the Baldock goal for the afternoon.

It wasn’t all one-way traffic however at the other end Russell Bull broke free of his marker and maybe should have done better shooting directly at United keeper Bailey Mulhall.

Half-time and a goal to the good, the 2nd period got underway and Russell Bull was soon to put the outcome beyond all doubt with a 15 minute hat-trick. On 58 minutes he headed home from a corner and followed that up with a low shot from the left hand side of the goal 5 minutes later. On 73 minutes the tall striker managed to get above the NGU defence again and headed home his 3rd.

Two late consolation goals from the home side, one from the penalty spot, were not enough to cause the Reds any further problems and soon enough Mr Steele blew his whistle to end proceedings and bring the points back to Baldock.

Baldock Town ended the day in 11th place in the table, on 10 points after 7 matches.
