Saturday 17th November 2018 – MATCH PREVIEW and ONLINE PROGRAMME LINK

Tomorrow, Baldock Town travel to Crawley Green for the first of two visits in four days. In this instance it is for a League match and it will be followed on Tuesday evening for a League Challenge Trophy 3rd round match.

Crawley Green find themselves in a healthy 8th place in the League table with a current record of P-14, W-6, D-3, L-5, with 21 points. Noticeably of late they have been involved in some high scoring matches with 31 goals being scored in their last 4 matches, 18 of which they have scored and 13 let in. So that augers well for a goalless draw then! (See the current form details below).

LCT – League Challenge Trophy

In their last two fixtures, the never-say-die Dirty Clarets (as they are known), have become masters of the impossible comeback. At Cockfosters last Saturday they were 1-5 down but managed a 5-5 draw, while previous to that they were 0-3 down at the break at North Greenford, but again achieved parity in the 2nd half.

Also at Cockfosters, while the game was taking place, some of the Crawley Green players had cash and bank cards removed from their wallets, that had been left supposedly secure, in the changing room. What a world we now live in!

The last time we met Crawley Green was back in April 2016, in their promotion season, when we played out a goalless draw at Sharpenhoe Road (when CG shared Barton Rovers’ facilities). A month previously we met at Roker Park, where Baldock came out on top by 5-1. Goals from Simon Martin, Luke Gregson (2), Josh Furness, and an OG were too much for the Dirty Clarets on that evening, with Mark Bunker scoring their consolation.

CG now play their matches at the Brache. I read this week that they have been awarded a grant of £50,000 from the Football Stadia Improvement Fund (FSIA) to build a new modular changing pavilion and covered spectator accommodation at the facility.

Because of a colour clash, the Reds will again become the Blues for the afternoon.
