Barker Brace Bags the Points for the Reds!

Baldock Town continued on their successful travels around the London Boroughs, bringing home the points from Cockfosters.

The Fosters had been in recent good form being unbeaten in 5 matches, but their run was about to come to a shuddering halt as the Red Army came to town looking to climb the table.

Kim Forsythe and Harry Holland both returned to the starting line-up after last week’s win at North Greenford, while hat-trick hero in that match Russell Bull was unavailable. Jack Farmer kept his place between the sticks, while 2 new names appeared on the bench in Daril Ngwala (midfielder, ex Luton Town youth, Bedford Town and Biggleswade United) and John Priestner (more info when I receive it).

The 1st half ended goalless and after 20 minutes of the 2nd period, manager Luke Gregson made the substitution which would change the destiny of the match. Harry Holland came off to be replaced by soon to become ‘supersub’ Alfie Barker. Within 2 minutes of his arrival on the pitch, Baldock were a goal to the good and 7 minutes later, Alfie doubled his own, and the Reds tally for the afternoon. Daril Ngwala made his debut coming on for Kieran Barnes in the 70th minute.

The win moves Baldock up to 8th place in the table having now played 8 games and accruing 13 points.

Baldock Town: Farmer, M Lee, Furness. Gilbert. Kenna (c), Brooks. Barnes (Ngwala). L Barker, Holland (A Barker), Forsythe, Robertson (James). Unused subs: Priestner, Harpur.
Scorer: A Barker (2)

Next up: It is Non-League Day and Baldock Town are at home next Saturday 13th (KO 3pm) when Brimsdown will be our visitors in the FA Vase 1st Round Proper. With a prize of over £800 up for grabs to the winners, it is vital that the Red Army turn out in force to cheer the boys on into the next round. A match preview will be posted later in the week.
