Baldock Town went into this FA Vase 1st round proper tie at home to 1st Division Brimsdown, fully aware that they would be expected to win, but also in the knowledge that their lesser league opponents had nothing to lose and a giant killing was ultimately a possibility.

With an unchanged starting XI from last Saturday’s league win at Cockfosters, the Reds went ahead on 29 minutes through Harry Holland, doubling this advantage two minutes before the break when Kim Forsythe also found the net.

After 70 minutes Sam James came off the bench to replace Kieran Barnes and after only five minutes on the pitch he was on hand to put the result beyond all doubt, booking the Red Army’s place in the next round.
