Reds Come Back to Defeat the Blues!

Baldock Town made a glorious 2nd half comeback to defeat Arlesey Town in an away fixture at their home ground!

The Reds came into the match in good form having won their previous 3 fixtures, scoring 11 goals and conceding none. On the other hand, landlords Arlesey Town, had taken a severe dip in form of late having lost their last 4 matches and conceded 17 goals in the process.

Baldock made 3 changes from the side that destroyed Stotfold the previous week with Adam Harpur and Charlie Hayford returning to the starting line-up, and new loan signing from Biggleswade Town, Robbie Buchanan making his debut.

The first half proved to be a feisty affair with little in the way of goalmouth action, but on the half hour, the home side managed to take the lead through a shot by Kai Ashley. The Blues took this advantage into the break hoping they were about to put an end to recent poor results.

However just after the hour mark Baldock Town were level when a Charlie Joy shot was blocked on the line and Kieran Barnes was on hand to tap in the equaliser.

6 minutes from the end the Reds were ahead when unlikely scorer Dean Gilbert found the net from close range after a wide free kick. 4 minutes later the result was put beyond doubt when Robbie Buchanan capped a fine debut performance with his first goal for the club.

The 3 points take Baldock up to 13th in the League table, just a place below Leighton Town who are the Reds’ next visitors on Saturday 29th.

Baldock Town: Harpur; Brooks; Furness; Hayford; Gilbert; Barnes; Joy (James); L Barker ©, Holland (A Barker); Forsythe (Bull); Buchanan. Unused subs: Ngwala; Gregson.

Scorers: Barnes, Gilbert, Buchanan.
